With this Devon leather you can begin the creation of your own heart warming story of a favourite belt that could be used by several members, even generations of the same family, and yet more stories of a belt that carries the scuffs, dents and marks of everyday life as it accompanies the wearer through college, relationships, family, etc.

Buckle

1⅜ inch wide (34mm) ‘West End’ style in solid reclaimed brass from a UK foundry

Belt – Classic Devon Blue and Red Leather, 37

Leather

Blue Guest Leather; veg tanned English leather produced by J&FJ Baker & Co Ltd. Bought by the Baker family in the year 1862 and based in Colyton, this is Britain’s last remaining oak bark tannery, remaining a family business to this day.

Buckle

1½ inch wide (38mm) ‘West End’ style in solid stainless steel. These buckles are super strong and resistant to rust

Keepers

One sewn in wide keeper just after the buckle and one matching loose, free moving keeper to help hold down the other end of the strap if required

Edges

Hand polished leather edges with Red finish, to keep the look of the cut leather strap uniform and to help reduce moisture absorption

Thread

Red coloured Slipping Twine thread has been used to hand sew the buckle and fixed keeper into place, and to sew the loose keeper ends together. Stitches are spaced at 8 to the inch

Belt size

37 inches (approx UK womens’ clothing size 16-18)*

Clothing size is based on the online M&S sizing chart

For trousers, as a general rule of thumb, adding a couple of inches (approx 5cm) to your trouser size should give you your belt size. Please be aware that this doesn’t work for everyone, however, it is usually a very good starting point

You could also measure the wearer’s current belt: from where the leather turns over the buckle to the hole they are currently using

The Belt Makers belts are measured from where the leather turns over the buckle to the centre of the range of holes, so that we provide adjustment on either side
