Leather

One of our current veg tanned bovine Guest leathers from Ware, in their Elephant Print in Brown. Thomas Ware and Sons Ltd has been operating since 1840 and remains the biggest of the traditional British leather pit tanneries. Using a combination of time-honoured leather tanning techniques and modern technology, they produce a range of leathers which they supply to clients all over the world

Buckle

1.5 inch wide (38mm) ‘Flat West End’ style in solid brass

Keepers

One sewn in wide keeper just after the buckle and one matching loose, free moving keeper to help hold down the other end of the strap if required

Edges

The leather edges are hand polished with an Aqua Green finish, to help reduce moisture absorption along the edges and keep the look of the cut leather strap uniform

Thread

Green coloured Tiger thread has been used to hand sew the buckle and fixed keeper into place, and to sew the matching loose keeper ends together. Stitches are spaced at 8 to the inch

Belt size

40 inches (approx UK clothing size 20)*

Clothing size is based on the online M&S sizing chart

As a general rule of thumb, adding a couple of inches (approx 5cm) to your trouser size should give you your belt size. Please be aware that this doesn’t work for everyone, however, it is usually a very good starting point

You could also measure the wearer’s current belt: from where the leather turns over the buckle to the hole they are currently using

The Belt Makers belts are measured from where the leather turns over the buckle to the centre of the range of holes, so that we provide adjustment on either side
